Teaching Notes
We all live in a broken world, and all of our minds have been affected by the reality of sin.
We all struggle with thoughts and mindsets that are destructive to our lives and our relationships, and if we don’t take them seriously, they can lead to our ruin.
The rise in mental health issues is not just because we're more educated and aware of what’s happening in our minds—the world itself has become more mentally and emotionally disorienting.
We must learn to “think about what we’re thinking about,” Because our thoughts are affecting our emotions and our actions … our entire experience of life.
Whatever takes hold of your mind takes hold of you.
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.

Love is about heart attachment. Loving God means ultimately attaching to God, which then transforms your whole life.
So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Your mind influences your heart and soul. Your spirit comes to life through the Gospel—through faith in Jesus. God’s spirit connects, empowers and animates everything inside of you.
The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you.
But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Change doesn’t come easy. Transformation and freedom always come with a cost and they always include pain and struggle.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
