Key Question: What does this mean? & How?

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. (pg. 434; 1 Thessalonians 5:15)

Kalos = Good = outward beauty

Kaka = Evil

Kindness & Goodness Defined

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Luke 6:45)

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. (Matthew 5:38-39)

We offer kindness & goodness to others out of a deep inward moral conviction of love for the other person and for the beauty of truth.

Kindness

Kindness = Chrestos = A moral goodness that enables a person to be benevolent toward others.

Kindness = Hesed related to Hasidah = Stork

Kindness = pelargos = pelargonia = law for taking care of aging parents.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. (Exodus 34:5-7)

Goodness

Goodness = Agathos = A moral goodness that enables a person to do the right & best thing for another person

And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? …hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 5:2,5)

Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but  deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. (Proverbs 27:6)

The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient.  Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him,  so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.  I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. (1 Corinthians 2:6-8)
